Welcome to the 8th International Workshop on Groupware (CRIWG 2002)! Previous workshops were held in various locations, including Lisbon, Puerto Varas, El Escorial, Búzios, Cancun, Madeira, and Darmstadt. Following a successful formula, CRIWG 2002 emphasized quality papers, a limited number of participants, ample time for discussions, and strong collaboration within and between sessions. The workshop received 36 submissions from 13 countries, including nine from outside Ibero-America. Each submission underwent a rigorous review process by at least three members of an esteemed Program Committee, utilizing a double-blind approach to ensure impartiality. Reviewers were selected based on their expertise and were from institutions unrelated to the authors, which resulted in high confidence in the reviews. This process led to extensive feedback and numerous suggestions for improvement in the papers. A heartfelt thank you goes to the Program Committee members for their dedication, which undoubtedly enhanced the quality of the final articles presented at the workshop.
