More about the book

This text is the culmination of forty years of experience in understanding ore textures. The author reflects on a learning journey that began after leaving academia, feeling ill-prepared to interpret mineralizing processes through field observations. Enlightenment has come through various experiences: first, slow field observation as a mine and exploration geologist; second, visiting diverse ore deposit styles as both an academic and consultant; third, addressing questions from generations of curious students; fourth, conducting research; and fifth, collaborating with esteemed economic geologists. Notably, Professor Willard C. Lacy played a significant role in demonstrating the importance of first principles related to fluid channelways and the meticulous examination of textures. Despite rapid technological advancements, these foundational skills remain crucial for both exploration geologists and academic researchers seeking to understand ore-forming processes. The five volumes presented here were compiled over eleven years, designed to progressively guide observers through the principles of recognition related to infill, alteration, overprinting, and ore-related breccias.
