This volume celebrates the 60th birthday of Professor Giovanni Paolo Galdi and honors his significant contributions to Mathematical Fluid Mechanics. It features 35 peer-reviewed papers from authors across 20 countries, showcasing the global impact of his work. The papers were selected from invited lectures and talks at the International Conference on Mathematical Fluid Mechanics held in Estoril, Portugal, from May 21–25, 2007, in recognition of Professor Galdi's milestone birthday. We extend our gratitude to all authors and reviewers for their valuable contributions. Professor Galdi has dedicated his career to the mathematical analysis of the Navier-Stokes equations and non-Newtonian flow problems, focusing on hydrodynamic stability and fluid-particle interactions, earning respect within the mathematical community. His work has established significant milestones in these areas and influenced interdisciplinary research. He has also played a crucial role in advancing the careers of many young researchers, offering both direct intellectual guidance and opportunities to collaborate with senior colleagues. The volume includes a brief review of Professor Galdi’s activities and reflections from colleagues and friends.
