More about the book
This book explores the synergy in interorganizational relationships among NGOs, public, and private sector stakeholders in delivering agricultural advisory services aimed at sustained wealth creation and poverty reduction in rural northern Ghana. While there is substantial literature on inter-organizational relationships in the NGO sector, there is a lack of focus on the processes that create “synergy,” defined as making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. This exploration is timely as many NGOs are shifting from short-term projects to programmatic approaches, necessitating lessons learned from past projects to inform future collaborations and enhance knowledge sharing, skills, and competencies. A multiple case study approach is employed to investigate how synergy can be achieved in practice, examining the actions of various actors involved. The book primarily addresses Regional Rural Development (RRD) and aims to support development planning students and practitioners in navigating rural development planning and policy issues effectively.
