The Where the Rain Falls project investigates how changes in rainfall interact with societies. Findings from all case studies confirm that rainfall variability and food insecurity are key drivers for human mobility. The Thailand case study was conducted in Thung Hua Chang District, Northern Thailand. The study finds that rainfall-related events have a negative impact on the livelihood security of the households surveyed. Despite this stressor, the majority of households is food secure and is able to cope and adapt without the need to migrate. However, migration is an important strategy to strengthen the communities' resilience against climatic stress.
