More about the book
This study was developed as part of the sub-project "Awareness Raising" within the Iranian-German research initiative focused on urban energy efficiency in the Tehran-Karaj region, funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). It emphasizes the energy-efficient development of New Towns in Iran, particularly Hashtgerd. Given that cities contribute significantly to global greenhouse gas emissions, addressing climate change necessitates a transformative approach to urban living, building, and mobility. The sub-project aims to assess residents' attitudes toward environmental issues, climate change, and energy consumption to create effective awareness-raising measures. It seeks to sensitize Hashtgerd's population to sustainable energy practices and energy-efficient construction. Additionally, the project aims to gather insights into the needs and suggestions of Hashtgerd residents to inform its initiatives. An exploratory qualitative survey was conducted to examine energy consumption in households and transportation, as well as residents' knowledge and attitudes regarding climate change. The survey also addressed the structural conditions of apartments and buildings, along with residents' feedback on traffic, transport, and other infrastructure in Hashtgerd.
