More about the book

Ubiquitous Communications and Services, integral to pervasive computing and smart space applications, pose significant management challenges for delivering adaptive services across diverse networks, middleware, applications, and devices. Key challenges include managing user-centric and context services, ensuring distribution and scalability, addressing system and network heterogeneity, and providing intelligent support for user applications. Current management systems must adapt to the complexity and automation demands of pervasive computing. The MUCS workshop series fosters collaboration between Ubiquitous Computing and Communications Management, offering a platform for researchers and practitioners to discuss theoretical, technological, and organizational challenges, as well as advancements in management techniques for these applications. MUCS 2014 featured a scientific program with a keynote, peer-reviewed papers, and a panel discussion focused on ubiquitous communications for smart cities. Topics included context management, context-aware services, personalization in social networks, and semantics in home management and sensor systems. The keynote by Prof. Alex Galis from University College London addressed the challenges of Telecom Networks and Computing Clouds in developing innovative network services and management functionalities. The workshop took place in Budapest, Hungary, on March 28, 2014, alongside the 12th Annua
