The Hambach festival 1832

The seemingly endless procession of festively dressed men and women carrying black, red and gold and Polish flags that marched from Neustadt to Hambach Castle Hill on 27 May 1832 to demand national unity, civil liberties and civic participation and understanding among the peoples of Europe impressed contemporaries, supporters and opponents alike.
