More about the book

The work of Ursula Schulz-Dornburg explores the intersection between architecture and found sculptural forms in the world around us.Her projects, often the culmination of ongoing research into themes of history, politics, landscape and cycles of time and decay, take her to far off, obscure locations which have seen her travel the length of the Hejaz Railway in Saudi Arabia and weave across Armenia along the many often isolated bus routes of this landlocked country.By documenting these disappearing landscapes Schulz-Dornburg highlights the ongoing relationship between the functionality of architecture in society, and the skewed relationships between function and mass usage and between intention and effect. This reprinted edition is published to coincide with Schulz-Dornburg's presence in the exhibition Conflict, Time, Photography at TATE Modern, London, 26 November - 15 March 2015.English and German text.
