A lot of them came from Ger- many or better: what is now Germany. Local historian Roland Geiger has spent years of research in emigration from his hometown St. Wendel, Saarland, in South West Germany. In 2012 and 2013 he had the chance to talk about this subject in three towns of upstate New York where most of the emigrants from his own territory settled (Livingston and Steuben County). Later the lecture was transformed into this booklet. Chapter One Emigration Chapter Two Reasons Chapter Three Research
