The thermal mechanical coupled model is created to calculate and visualize the 3D heat transfer conditions in the continuous casting mould, considering the influence of the flux film thickness and air gap formation. In this research, the temperature distribution in the strand and mould has been simulated for the casting of the slab 1510mm*250mm with the casting speed 1 m/min. With this condition, the heat flux density between mould and strand, the distribution of the liquid flux film, solid flux film and air gap were calculated. Furthermore, the effect of the breaking temperature on the heat transfer conditions in the mould has also been discussed.
