In this thesis we deal with the mathematical modeling and analysis of processes in multi-component porous media and domains including a thin heterogeneous layer. Such kind of problems have a very complex microscopic structure with couplings between the different compartments. The underlying models are described by reaction-diffusion equations together with nonlinear boundary and transmission conditions at the interfaces between the different compartments. These boundary conditions describe processes like surface reactions, adsorption/desorption, or transport between the compartments.
