The catalogue for Hugo Wilson’s first exhibition at Galerie Judin presents a bestiary in the classical sense. Wilson’s wondrous animal congregations are complimented by the inscrutable encounters of humans and animals in the apocalyptic world of the French Old Master Charles-Frédéric Soehnée – an exciting juxtaposition examined in an essay by Juerg Judin. The publication is rounded off by a conversation between Ben Jones and the artist and an overview of all the animal paintings created between 2010 and 2016 – which had put Wilson on the map of the international art scene.
