More about the book

In 1967, rallying was evolving from regularity-style events to a focus on timed special stages, with a new contender emerging to challenge the established order. The Porsche 911 took on the dominant BMC Mini Coopers, and together they claimed over half of the European Rally Championship events. The season showcased a diverse range of winners, with eleven different drivers and eight car brands, including Lancia, Ford, Renault, Saab, and Wartburg, achieving overall victories. McKlein has created the first-ever annual dedicated to this pivotal rally season, featuring coverage of all sixteen rounds through photographs from the McKlein archive and text by John Davenport, who both competed in and reported on these events. The annual also includes reports and statistics on significant non-championship international rallies, some of which were early members of the World Rally Championship established in 1973. Additionally, it covers the “Rally That Never Was,” the cancelled RAC Rally of 1967. With 378 pages of photographs, texts, statistics, and memorabilia, this limited edition annual captures an exhilarating time when rallying began to gain prominence.
