More about the book
ARTIST: Edward M. Donald (known as Edward M.) COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: USA BIO: Edward is a 2D artist influenced by the Expressionist Movement, utilizing simple tools like pastels, ink, paint, charcoal, and pencil on paper or hard board surfaces to forge emotional connections for viewers. His distinguished career spans visual communications and higher education in Canada and the U.S. He served as an Adjunct Instructor in Visual Arts at the College for Creative Studies from 1979 to 1999 and again from 2008 to the present. He was a member of the National Advisory Board for Graphic Design at the International Academy of Design & Technology from 2008 to 2012. His roles include Executive Art Director at Cengage Learning (2004-2007), Associate Creative Director and Partner at Persona (1999-2002), and Vice President at The Hopkins Group (1990-1999). WHY THIS FORM? Edward's work often centers on human studies, driven by an emotional quest for content and structure rather than mere representation. The tactile, malleable surfaces and expressive, seemingly unfinished drawing style make his art approachable. INSPIRATION: Influenced by Egon Schiele and Alberto Giacometti. EXHIBITED: Notable exhibitions include the Artbox Project in Basel, Switzerland (2017), College for Creative Studies Faculty Show (2016), and The Scarab Club's Annual Gold Medal Exhibition (2015, 2017).
