More about the book

Acclaimed photographer Charles March, born in 1955 in London and based in Goodwood, West Sussex, initially collaborated with Stanley Kubrick on Barry Lyndon before establishing a successful career in commercial photography. With the advent of the digital photography revolution, he developed a unique technique, using the camera like a painter’s brush to capture landscapes and nature infused with emotion and movement. The images in this new series, resembling a pictorial journey, were taken over five years at Gleann Badraig (Scottish Gaelic for Glen Batrick) on the sparsely populated Scottish island of Jura. March partnered with renowned Scottish poet Ken Cockburn to create a book that transcends traditional photography, immersing readers in the island’s atmosphere while also exploring the thoughts and emotions evoked by one of the world’s most remote locations. This collaboration offers a profound experience, inviting reflection on the beauty and solitude found in such an isolated setting.
