Computational modeling of patient-specific cardiac mechanics with model reduction-based parameter estimation and applications to novel heart assist technologies

More about the book

Computational methods for modeling of patient-specific mechanics of the heart and the circulatory system are developed. The 3-dimensionally resolved heart is coupled to a lumped-parameter 0-dimensional circulation model in a monolithic computational setting that allows for efficient simulations of cardiovascular conditions combined with gas transport, dissociation, as well as growth and remodeling phenomena. Efficient parameter estimation strategies are developed using multilevel and reduced-order modeling techniques, and the resulting overall model is applied to novel ventricular assist device development.
