Johann Carl Bertram Stüve (1798–1872) served as mayor of Osnabrück and as a deputy in the Estates Assembly. From 1848 to 1850, he held the position of Minister of the Interior for the Kingdom of Hanover. In the Estates Assembly, he was instrumental in initiating and advancing laws aimed at relieving peasants of financial burdens, contributing to their liberation. During the revolutionary years of 1848 and 1849, he implemented numerous reforms as Minister of the Interior. Beyond his political roles, Stüve authored several historical and theoretical writings, earning him a distinguished place alongside another prominent figure from Osnabrück, Justus Möser. This monograph aims to preserve Stüve's reform efforts and scholarly contributions, highlighting his importance in the historical narrative of the Kingdom of Hanover.
