More about the book
The volume presents the contributions to a scientific symposium on the development of comprehensive schools in the Federal Republic of Germany, France, Great Britain, and Sweden, convened by the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and Education, West Berlin in December 1987. While the German case is summarized in one contribution, there are two papers for each of the other countries, presented by experts reporting on the basis of their own empirical research on internal and external consequences of the comprehensive school reform efforts. The issue of social selectivity received special attention.
