More about the book

In recent years right-wing extremism has grown significantly throughout Europe which has expressed itself in both the establishment of extreme right-wing political parties and the dramatic increase in violent attacks migrants, foreigners and members of minority ethnic groups. These developments are correspondingly reflected in sport, in particular in European soccer. The papers in this volume summarise the results of a research project funded by the European Union focussing on racism(s), xenophobia and anti-Semitism in European football and their implications on European integration. The contributors to this volume come from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary and the United Kingdom. Each chapter is written with a comparativ perspective focussing not only on the specific situation in the country covered but also on policy intiatives to combat racism(s), xenophobia and anti-Semitism.
