The struggle for children's rights, human dignity, and a better life in Latin America, Africa, and India is well documented. This volume goes beyond that discussion, taking aim at the debate surrounding the working children's movement. Much of the positions contradict previous mainstream thinking. Instead of portraying working children as pitiable, helpless victims, the editors perceive them as economic and social subjects who make important contributions to their families and to the society in which they live.
