Antecedents of venture firms' internationalization

A Conjoint Analysis of International Entrepreneurship in the Net Economy

More about the book

The objective of Julia Christofor’s thesis is to analyze the tendency of firms and their entrepreneurs to internationalize, focusing on information-technology-based business models, particularly Electronic-Business-Firms, or "Born Globals," which generate value through digital networks. These firms are presumed to internationalize early in their lifecycle due to the unique characteristics of the internet and the global interconnectivity of market participants. Additionally, significant changes in technological, economic, and societal contexts suggest that traditional theories of internationalization may not fully explain the internationalization processes of these firms. The management of newly established E-Business firms faces unique challenges in a global competitive landscape, which are not adequately addressed by existing theoretical frameworks from the internationalization literature, primarily designed for international, multinational, and established firms. This gap highlights the need for a more nuanced understanding of the internationalization behavior of young E-Business firms in today's rapidly evolving environment.
