In recent years, supply chain research has gained considerable attention in agricultural and forestry economics literature. One specific focus has been on international supply chains which link developing and transformational economies to the markets of industrialized countries. More recently, the idea of international high-value chains for traditional as well as non-traditional agricultural and food, timber and non-timber products has gained growing attention.
