More about the book

The recession in traditional heavy industries and the rise of advanced technologies have highlighted the significance of heterogeneous catalysis in fine chemical synthesis. The second International Symposium on Heterogeneous Catalysis and Fine Chemicals, organized by the Laboratory of Catalysis in Organic Chemistry at the University of Poitiers under the auspices of the CNRS, aimed to foster connections between academic researchers and manufacturers involved in solid catalysts for fine chemical synthesis. This volume provides a comprehensive overview of the challenges faced by both academic and industrial researchers. It covers a wide array of reactions, focusing on selectivity—chemo-, regio-, stereoselectivity, and enantioselectivity—and how these selectivities vary with the characteristics of surface sites. The symposium addressed three main themes: hydrogenation, oxidation, and acid-base catalysis, featuring four plenary lectures and two invited talks that balanced industrial and academic perspectives. Approximately 60 research papers, carefully selected by the Scientific Committee, were presented and are included in this proceedings volume, reflecting the latest advancements and discussions in the field.
