Rudolf Kippenhahn, Jahrgang 1926, studierte Mathematik und Physik, bevor er in die Astronomie wechselte. Er war Direktor des Max-Planck-Instituts für Astrophysik in Garching, bevor er sich als freier Schriftsteller in Göttingen niederließ. Die Sterne und das Universum sind seit jeher seine Leidenschaft.
