Electronic predistortion strategies for directly modulated laser systems
Authors
More about the book
The aim of this work is to study predistortion strategies to overcome the dispersion limit of conventional directly modulated lasers of about 20 km standard single mode fiber at 10 Gbit/s. Calculating a predistorted signal that compensates chromatic dispersion can be simply done in the optical domain for a complex optical signal. For directly modulated lasers, which are restricted in modulating an arbitrary complex optical signal, the predistortion has to be estimated in the electrical domain and thus a more sophisticated approach is necessary.
