More about the book
Tap changers - in the form of on-load tap changing (OLTC) distribution transformers or as line voltage regulators (LVR) - are viable solutions for voltage regulation in distribution grids. The objective of this thesis is to enhance and optimize their operation and control. To this end, a control algorithm for an OLTC distribution transformer as well as a methodology for optimal LVR placement is introduced. Both is optimized in terms of maximizing a grid's hosting capacity, enhancing voltage quality, and device lifetime.
