More about the book
Polish-born “Sea Cloud” hotel manager Simon Kwinta shares his life-experiences and memories of his time aboard the famous windjammer within the 24 chapters of this book. Sailing on the “Sea Cloud” for over 30 years now, Simon can be seen as being a legend himself. Working in a restaurant after school and then working in the kitchen of an oceanographic ship from Poland was his first job experience. In 1976, he advanced to become chief steward on a Belgian ship. It was nine years later, in 1985, that he first set foot on the legendary windjammer, where he not only oversees diverse processes on board, but also entertains the guests with stories right from his seafarering life. With only one month off of the “Sea Cloud” for every six month aboard, he has an extraordinary work routine. But he knew right from the start: “This is my ship; I’m never going back“, which still holds true to this day.
