Pentecostalism, chieftaincy and festivals in Ghana

More about the book

One of the greatest challenges facing Christianity in Ghana today is how to deal with Chieftaincy and traditional festivals in relation to its mission. This book discusses the relationship between Pentecostalism and Chieftaincy/traditional festivals in Ghana. The author first discusses what he has identified as “open” and “non-open” confrontational attitudes of some Pentecostals towards Chieftaincy and traditional festivals. He further identifies and discusses in detail the engagement between some Pentecostals and members of the Fellowship of Christian Chiefs and Queens (FCCQ) in Ghana as a shift in Pentecostal Mission strategy. Drawing from this engagement, the author identifies ‘Inculturation’ (cultural evangelism) as a means of bridging the gap between Christianity and Chieftaincy / traditional festivals in Ghana.
