This dissertation extends the understanding around target maturity in company acquisitions in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry. I show that (1) more acquisition experience of a buyer is associated with younger targets (2) technology hypes around a target technology domain are directly and indirectly via moderation effects associated with younger targets (3) there are acquisition patterns beyond 1:1 acquisitions in larger acquisition chains which characterize two distinct buyer types.
