The European People's Party: Successes and Future Challenges

The European People's Party (EPP) is composed of Christiandemocratic and centre-right member parties from throughout Europe. It is the strongest faction in the European Parliament. With its more than 70 member parties from 38 European countries, the EPP is an extremely heterogeneous and complex conglomeration. This volume provides the first overview of the binding fundamental values as well as the traditional elements of the EPP. Portraits of the EPP parties from Germany (CDU), Sweden (M), Poland (UW), Austria (ÖVP), Hungary (Fidesz), Romania (PD-L), the Slovak Republic (SDKU-DS, KDH, SMK), Italy (DC), France (UMP) and the special case of the British Tories show the varying traditions and approaches of the individual member parties.
