More about the book

Roni Horn's photographs transport us beyond the landscape and into the realm of dreams. Centering on Iceland and her evolving experiences there, PI is a unique dialogue addressing the relationship between identity and place, and continues her extended, larger work begun with the multi-volume series To Place. Juxtaposing meditative, natural imagery of ocean swells, seabirds and their nests, landscapes, and portraits of the people of Iceland, with the arresting stares of fake wildlife and grainy television soap opera images, this collection of some 45 photographs comes together to present a unique and powerful look at Iceland, a country whose identity lies mostly in our imaginations.
