More about the book
The third volume in the ‘Displaying Futures’ series centers on ‘Ubiquitous Interaction’ and aligns with an international symposium organized by our initiative, launched in 2011. Following events in Tokyo and Taipeh, Seoul hosts this gathering at the Korea Furniture Museum, building on previous venues like the Xue Xue Institute and the German ambassador’s residence. This symposium explores new communications and strategic ideas, aiming to foster a vibrant dialogue rich with inspiration. ‘Ubiquitous Interaction’ serves as a module in our quest for innovation, facilitating discussions between clients and experts across various disciplines. This initiative reflects Merck’s commitment to developing technologies and products that adapt to the evolving needs of display users. Previous themes, such as ‘Perceptions’ (2011), challenged us and our clients to engage with external ideas from artists, designers, and scientists, broadening our perspectives. In ‘Seamless Transitions’ (2012), we delved into seamless information and communication in future megacities, focusing on future mobility and the integration of technology into everyday life. The concept of ‘Ubiquitous Computing’ bridges the current volume and its corresponding symposium, highlighting advancements in materials and the transformative potential of technology.
