Set in Sutterton, James's new novel features the extraordinary house of the de Vries family, wealthy landowners who came to Lincolnshire after the Second World War. Partly a story of immigrants and partly a discovery about atrocities carried out in the house in the past, a story whose parallels provide a dark and unsettling problem for DI Yates.
