Since 1919, Ukrainian lands made up almost a third of the entire area of Poland. National minorities, including 5.6 million Ukrainians, also made up about a third of the country's 27 million population. Ukraine and Ukrainians became a new source of raw materials and cheap labor for Poland, which led to the exacerbation of contradictions.
