"The authors of this book move beyond transactional change in education to deep-rooted transformational changes that close opportunity gaps for Black and Brown students and families. They believe that transactional responses to racism reify white supremacist narratives, policies, and practices. At the core of the book is an original conceptual framework (The Conscious Anti-Racist Engendering, or CARE, Framework) that places a concerted focus on community building through the use of adult learning theories.
