More about the book

Charles Monroe Schulz, born in Minneapolis on November 26, 1922, began drawing at a young age, inspired by characters like Popeye. At 15, he had his work featured in "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" After taking a correspondence course with Art Instruction Inc., where he later taught, he served in the Army during World War II. His iconic comic strip, originally titled Li'l Folks, began syndication on October 2, 1950, appearing in seven newspapers. It eventually became the most popular syndicated comic strip ever, featured in 2,600 papers across 75 countries. Schulz personally drew over 18,250 Peanuts strips, with a contract ensuring that no one else would illustrate them. The beloved characters, including Charlie Brown and Snoopy, also starred in numerous television specials, beginning with A Charlie Brown Christmas in 1964, which became a classic and won an Emmy and a Peabody. Schulz received many accolades, including induction into the Cartoonists Hall of Fame, Reuben Awards, the Yale Humor Award, and recognition from the French Ministry of Culture. His work was even showcased at the Louvre in 1990. Following a colon cancer diagnosis, Schulz retired, with the final daily strip published on January 3, 2000, and the last Sunday strip, along with a farewell letter, on February 13, 2000. He passed away in Santa Rosa, California, on February 12, 2000, just hours before his final strip was published.
