More about the book
This thesis examines black bear-human conflicts in the Senchal Wildlife Sanctuary, West Bengal. Through surveys, it identifies crop raiding as the most common issue, particularly from June to September. Villagers employ various traditional methods to deter bears, but these are often ineffective. Suggestions for compensation and insurance are discussed to help mitigate conflicts.
