Set against the backdrop of post-World War II, the story follows Alfie Day, a former RAF airman and POW, as he navigates his new life filled with solitude. Working as an extra on a film about POWs, Alfie embarks on a journey of self-discovery that unearths complex emotions and memories from his past. The experiences on set challenge his understanding of love and the world, revealing that the struggles of war were only the beginning of his challenges.
