It talks of his efforts to secure the release of political prisoners, his encounters with Mikhail Gorbachev, his travels abroad, his investigation of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and, finally, his election to the first Congress of People's Deputies, where he helped accelerate the pace of democratic reform.
