This book contains the complete set of the first ten issues of "The Crane Bag Journal of Irish Studies." The Crane Bag was an Irish publication founded in 1977 and sponsored by the Arts Council of Ireland. Its aim was to disseminate Irish thought, literature and socio-cultural debate while also featuring the work of artists and thinkers from other countries. It features contributions by Louis le Brocquy, John Hewitt, John Montegue, Seamus Deane, Seamus Heaney, Francis Stuart, John Banville, Maria Jolas, Herbert Marcuse, Noam Chomsky, Paul Ricoeur, Sean McBride, Conor Cruise O'Brien, John Hume, Garret Fitzgerald, Prionsias MacCana, Liam de Paor, Anne Madden, and others.
