People across the world still want to see with their own eyes the treasures of Tutankhamun, over eighty years since they were first brought to light. This well-presented and general study of the boy pharaoh and his Egypt is full of colour illustrations of many of the objects in the new touring exhibition `Tutankhamun and the Golden Beyond' as well as photographs of landscapes, tombs, mummies and other objects from this Golden Age. In his text Hawass summarises the evidence for Tutankhamun and his illustrious family at the Amarna court as well as the history of excavations in the Valley of King by Carter and by others. The Tutankhamun curse and Carter's attitude towards the treasures in the tomb are also discussed in general sections. Interestingly, Hawass also touches upon his own role, as secretary general of the Supreme COuncil of Antiquities in Cairo, including his disapproval of DNA extraction from mummies and his disagreement with the current theory that one mummy is Tutankhamun's stepmother Nefertiti.
