Following conflicts with the Mohawk during the Beaver Wars, many Mohicans were forced to relocate southeast into Berkshire County, Massachusetts, around Stockbridge. This movement highlights the tribe's resilience and adaptability in the face of external pressures while maintaining their unique cultural identity and history.
