Dynamic simulation of activated sludge wastewater treatment plants

Focusing on the activated sludge process, this study aims to enhance wastewater treatment in Portugal by utilizing activated sludge models for better understanding and optimization. It explores the simulation of organic carbon removal using ASM3 and employs respirometric assays to derive kinetic and stoichiometric coefficients for model calibration. The research addresses limitations faced by wastewater treatment plants, investigating how various operational methodologies impact process efficiency and overall effluent quality.
