Impending Love and Death

Set against the backdrop of the Civil War, the story follows politician Logan Pierce as he seeks support for the Union in Darrow Falls, Ohio. He encounters Jem Collins, a determined woman anxious for news of her husband, Ben, after the Battle of Bull Run. Ignoring Logan's advice to stay home, Jem travels to Washington City, where she uses her nursing skills and grapples with her feelings for Logan. As she hears troubling news about Ben, Jem's loyalty is tested, leading Logan to confront the dangers of following her into enemy territory.
