Island in the Lake

Set in the mysterious woods and swamps of East Texas, the story follows the Nadicha, or Mound Builders, as they encounter the enigmatic Alligator Man. The Turtle Woman, a healer and seer, senses danger in his attempts to win over the community, especially the children. Her intuition proves to be crucial as she grapples with the threat he poses. The narrative explores themes of intuition, community, and the clash between good and evil in a richly woven historical context.
