More about the book
Born into a wealthy family, Algernon Charles Swinburne became a prominent literary figure known for his intense lyricism and intricate imagery. His breakthrough came with "Atalanta in Calydon" and "Poems and Ballads," which garnered both acclaim and controversy for their bold themes. Despite his literary success, Swinburne struggled with health issues and alcoholism, leading to a period of isolation imposed by his friend Theodore Watts-Dunton. While he produced notable works during this time, his later years were marked by a decline in creative output. He passed away in 1909.
