More about the book
Exploring the local distribution of plant species, this thesis investigates the unique phenomenon of tree-dominated fertile patches within nutrient-poor savanna grasslands. It highlights how trees enhance environmental variability, subsequently boosting floral and faunal diversity. The research discusses the conditions under which these patches can expand and eventually form closed canopy forests, while also addressing the limitations of tree invasion in drier regions, where outward spread is restricted.
