More about the book

In 1918, despite her health challenges, Emily Hobhouse dedicated herself to alleviating the suffering of war-affected children in Europe, particularly in Leipzig, Germany. Supported by the Save the Children Fund and South Africans she had previously aided, she organized meal programs for thousands. In gratitude, South Africans funded a house in Cornwall for her to write. Her legacy of service and determination is honored by her ashes interred in a South African War Memorial, reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.
