More about the book
This study explores the effects of various wood modification treatments on the properties of PVC-based Wood Polymer Composites (WPC). Treatments using ethanolamines, L-arginine, aminosilane, melamine, and acetic anhydride aimed to enhance adhesion between wood and polymer, improve water absorption, and increase resistance to basidiomycetes. By altering the wood's pH from acidic to basic, compatibility with the acidic polymer was improved. The process involved dry blending treated and untreated wood flour with PVC and additives, followed by compounding and molding into panels.
